Afghanistan is enduring a massive communications shutdown as the interim authorities cut the country’s fibre optic network, leaving almost all citizens without internet and mobile phone services.

According to NetBlocks, internet connectivity dropped to less than 1% of normal levels on Monday night, and the blackout continued on Tuesday, creating near-total isolation.
